I WISH FOR A LADY TO BUFFER MY STRESS
(FOX TROT IN BLACK)
I will need some rest; my work is over now;
I need to go to sleep; I'll need it anyhow.
But I had wished a lady would be on my side
To go to sleep with me and then regain my pride!
Today I was a-laborin' with all my might,
And I was down and in the mood to blow right up and fight;
But I cannot do it; it is just not right!
Now I will need some rest,
Now I will need some rest,
So I will have a new day on my vest,
Away from my own cries,
As the day rises and dies;
And I will try to recoil from all the bad news
That has cached my sighs...
I'll need some rest; my work is over now,
I need to go to sleep, I'll need it anyhow,
Wishing a lady would be on my side!
In my own impatience I feel unrelaxed,
And all the pesky stresses leave me overtaxed!
It is like having finals in a college mien,
But that thing was the worst thing I did ever see!
That's why I need a lady just beside of me,
For this would be the spice that is so lively, lively;
Come on right now, woman, you, so beautiful
With smile so wonderful,
With smile so wonderful,
So wonderful that I am hap'ply full!
I had wished a lady would be on my side.
So I'll go to sleep with her and then regain my pride!
So let me rest,
And I'll invest
In a love with a woman that will be all mine,
And will come to my side!
I need some rest, my work is over now;
Somehow, anyhow...
I wished a lady would be on my side!
